Car Speakers - Another contender in our lineup of the best car speakers is the Alpine SPR-69C, a set of 6 x 9 car speakers that boasts a fairly healthy concentration of features and great sound quality. They ranked a bit lower in our comparison because of a perplexingly low sensitivity rating and a frequency response range that doesn’t reach a low as we hoped. These Alpine car speakers stayed in the running due largely to their impressive sound quality.
Alpine Electronics of America is one of the industry leaders in high-performance mobile technology, demonstrating their expertise with a variety of exceptional car audio speakers and other car sound components. On their own, the Alpine SPR-69C 6 x 9 car speakers are actually quite impressive, though they do not pack the punch necessary to compete well with the best speakers on the market. With some improvements to the sensitivity rating and a frequency response range that dipped a little lower into the bass notes, these speakers would perform much better in our comparison.
Specs/Performance:
Alpine’s car speakers come in the standard four-ohm impedance load configuration, making them better able to use the power they’re given, but also making them a little less flexible with wiring configurations. Their frequency response ranges only from 60Hz to 27Khz, giving it a fairly truncated low end. On the high side, however, the speakers stretch into the ultrasonic frequencies, attempting to add the additional “feel” to the music that these ranges are purported to provide. Their power handling is some of the best we reviewed, and is one of the major shining points of Alpine’s car audio speakers. With 100 watts of RMS power handling and a peak power rating of 300 watts, these speakers can put out a great deal of sound. Unfortunately, the sensitivity rating is somewhat low, meaning it is severely limited in its ability to convert power to sound in comparison to the other products on our lineup. But unless you’re trying to pull every last bit of power from your car sound system that you can, this isn’t too large of a concern.
Sound Quality:
The quality of the sound coming out of Alpine’s car speakers is impressive; the clean, clear notes are easily distinguishable and minute details can be heard without difficulty. We had no problems with any of the songs we tested, and while it did break into distortion at higher volume levels, it did so much later than the majority of the speakers we tested. These car speakers will sound great with any song you play on them.
Help & Support:
Alpine’s customer support is sufficient, though it leaves a lot to be desired for this product specifically. There is an FAQs section for general questions about Alpine’s speakers, but nothing about this model specifically. It is still helpful to see basic wiring diagrams and so on, but we would have liked to have seen some material related to this speaker. If you do have questions that cannot be answered by these limited FAQs, you can always contact Alpine through email or their phone line.
Summary:
The Alpine SPR-69C car speakers will serve your needs well if you’re looking for great quality sound. However, if you’re more into volume and output capacity, these devices may leave you wanting more. Their power handling is great, but the sensitivity rating limits their ability to produce large amounts of sound.
